Maureen Phillips
I taught peripatetically for a number of years, and was Head of Woodwind for the London Borough of Brent.
I was a founding partner of Upbeat Management, representing both classical and light music artists. This was quickly followed by the establishment of Upbeat Recordings, whose early releases included recordings by The Temperance Seven, Terry Lightfoot and Ken Collyer as well as The Coull String Quartet and Lord Menuhin conducting Elgar’s Violin Concerto with soloist Leland Chen.
In 2001 the three ‘Upbeat’ divisions were separated and since that time I have been responsible for the running of Upbeat Classical Management and also Red Priest’s record label ‘Red Priest Recordings’. As well as Red Priest other artists that I currently manage include the Wihan and St Petersburg String Quartets, pianists Martin Kasik, John Lenehan and Jeremy Menuhin, violinist Leland Chen, 4 Girls 4 Harps, London Soloists Ensemble and the Cepicky, Rosefield,Dussek and Petrof Piano Trios.
