Susan da Sie
After the Guildhall, which I attended 1979 to 1981, I spent a few years doing jobs around Montreal, some radio work and auditioning for clarinet positions. I was also playing in a woodwind quintet during this time.
At the same time, I enrolled in some night courses in Economics, enjoyed them so much, that I went back to McGill University in Montreal to complete a degree in Finance. After this, I also completed my CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and started working for an investment firm.
I'm currently Vice-President of Equities at Standard Life Investments, covering both the US and Canadian stock markets.
I now know that the dedication that many musicians have for their craft prepares them well for a life in or out of music. I often think about the days performing in front of an audience; especially when having to give presentations to clients and consultants.
Student of Yona Ettlinger: 1979 – 1981
